This is a sequel/spin-off to Reforged, which took place in Usleth. I think it's better to read them in order, but it's not a big issue if you can't. Reborn introduces the Gods of the Empire, but also references the magic system from Usleth, which was explained in more detail in Reforged.
There's major m/m, as well as various mentions of genderless characters. The women are great.
