Into the Broken Lands by Tanya Huff (Blood & Smoke, The Keeper's Chronicles, The Gale Women...) was excellent. The Heir of Marsan must go to the Broken Lands, still full of dangers caused by the mages who got mad with power, to get the fuel for the Black Flame.

This is a very long and detailed fantasy adventure stand-alone. I never got bored, but if you're not a fan of this genre, you might be. For those of you who watch c-drama, I thought it had a similar vibe to The Lost Tomb/DMBJ.

There's established m/m. All in all, there's little focus on romance.
