Even Though I Knew the End by CL Polk
The novella Even Though I Knew the End by CL Polk (Witchmark, The Midnight Bargain) was excellent. A spiritualist must find Chicago's serial killer.
I usually avoid books with tragic titles, but I love this author's other works, so I went for it anyway.
This has a noir writing style, which is not something I encounter often as an SF/F reader. Though the serial killer is called the White City Vampire, this is not a vampire story, but it's still a paranormal one.
There's major f/f, as well as non-binary characters.
