Spectacular Silver Earthling by Mara Lynn Johnstone

Spectacular Silver Earthling by Mara Lynn Johnstone was hilarious, except for a few sad parts. The robot Hubcap and the human Elliot are co-hosts of the Earth TV show "Odd Jobs Off-World". They face many dangers, including the mysterious space frenzy.

In addition to the humour, the best thing about this book is the First Contact with an alien species using colour communication. I especially liked that several of the aliens got POV chapters.

There are a few LGBT characters, but they're all very minor.

From [community profile] thefridayfive:

1. How many languages do you speak?

Mother tongue: French
Fluent: English, Spanish
Lower intermediate: Korean
Some basics: German, Latin, Japanese, Chinese

So the answer is either 4 or 8, depending on what you count. I learnt the European languages at school, the Asian languages on my own.

2. What is your mother tongue?

French

3. What is a language that you would like to learn and why?

I'm currently learning Korean because I love East Asian cultures and it's easier than learning Japanese or Chinese.

4. Does it bother you when people speak a language you don't know in front of you? Why or why not?

No, except if we were in the middle of a conversation and they start ignoring me, but that also bothers me in languages I know.

5. Speak to me.

Je vois que les gens ont interprété ça comme parler dans leur langue maternelle, donc voilà, je vous parle en français.

I just speak Norwegian and English, and I understand Swedish and Danish. I am learning Finnish on Duolingo, but it is slowgoing! It's fun though, learning a new language.
