The Trans Space Octopus Congregation by Bogi Takács (Power to Yield and Other Stories) was brilliant! It's a collection of speculative short stories, taking place on Earth, mainly in Hungary, or in space, with aliens.
Like in PTYAOS, these stories explore gender identity, neurodivergence, religion, immigration and the human condition in general (as in what makes us human). However, they don't have as many fascinating interconnections as in the more recent book, so if you plan on reading only one of these, my recommendation goes to PTYAOS.
There are many non-binary characters, as well as an intersex character.
