Ocean's Echo by Everina Maxwell (Winter's Orbit) was absolutely wonderful! Tennal, a chaotic telepath, gets conscripted to get mind-controlled by Lieutenant Surit.

Telepathy, my favourite trope, done by one of my fave authors! It was even better than I expected. The plot was stronger than in Winter's Orbit, which was more focused on the romance.

There's major m/m. People use different types of ornaments to present their genders, including non-binary.
