Project Hail Mary

Project Hail Mary was excellent. I was warned to avoid the way-too-spoilery trailers and I'm glad I did.

For a movie adapting a novel by Andy Weir, who's recently declared he dislikes woke stories, I didn't expect it to be so homoromantic!

My interpretation was that it was a queerplatonic relationship, but yes!

I enjoyed the book and it was, thankfully, vague enough in my memory that I could fully enjoy the movie. Such a fun experience!

Have you read the book?

I started and stopped reading the novel twice, but I feel like the movie might be better. People have raved about the book, but I just struggled to connect.

I saw it this weekend and really enjoyed it, too.

Personally, I'm inclined towards an aroace take on Grace that directly reacts to the accusation that he is loveless and unattached ("You have no family. You don't even have a dog") by illustrating how much love he has not only for Rocky, but his students and the earth itself.
