Le Comte de Monte-Cristo

The new movie adaptation of Le Comte de Monte-Cristo was magnificent! And the soundtrack as well!

I was a bit worried that 3 hours would be too long, but absolutely not. After all, the best adaptation ever is the anime Gankutsuou, which consists of 24 episodes of 20 minutes, i.e. 8 hours.

Eugénie is canonically in love with her female friend. <3 Also, reminder (or new information, since even French schools don't teach us that...) that Alexandre Dumas, one of our most famous authors, was Black.

Oooh Louise n'est plus sa prof de piano ? Comment est leur relation ? Est-ce que Louise a une personalité ? Est-ce qu'elles s'enfuient ensemble à la fin ? Dis-moi tout, je me moque des spoilers <3

That's good to hear! I'm really looking forward to seeing this. Despite growing up reading the Three Musketeers, I didn't learn Dumas was Black until The Black Count came out, though it got mentioned a lot more around the 2014 TV show.

While I had seen the 2002 film (Henry Cavill already gorgeous as Albert back then, lol), I finally read the novel only a couple years ago. IMMEDIATELY clocked Eugenie as gay in her introductory scene when she's bitching about the inadequacies of her male prospects, lol, and then of course she's always hanging around her piano tutor 👀 and sure enough she ends up dressing as a man and running off with her. Just gals being pals, right 🤣

I know, right? It's incredible, so underrated.
